In the framework of EPOKA University membership at the CLIL-HET Project funded by the Visegrad + Fund, and with the support of Epoka University Human Resources Office, Internal Quality Assurance Office, the Research and Project Office and the Continuous Education Center, a training on” Training on Adopting Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) as a Teaching Methodology in HEI with English as Medium of Instruction ” was held on 5th March at EPOKA University.
The trainer was Dr. Mirela Alhasani (Dubali) to the target group of 60 participants comprised of assistant lecturers and teaching assistants of EPOKA University. The aim of the workshop was to provide an in-depth understanding of English teaching didactics specifically of CLIL lectures, and to equip the junior academic staff with the functional skills of successfully implementing CLIL didactics at EPOKA University study programs in English Medium Instruction.
The academic training was conducted through utilization of HYFLEX technology being implemented at EPOKA university during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. An interactive approach of communication and practical tasks between the presented trainees and the online participants generated constructive discussion upon the current benefits and challenges of effective implementation of CLIL by disciplinary teachers. In addition, CLIL/ESP literature on lesson planning, CLIL/ESP principles of syllabus design and CLIL/ESP materials quality were among the valuable aspects analyzed in the training. Such training on English teaching didactics improves and updates the teaching competence of the disciplinary instructors involved in English Instructed Higher Education Institution like EPOKA University.
