On October 2, 2013, the Rector of Epoka University, Prof. Remzi Altin met with the Executive Director of IAESTE co-operating institution in Albania, Ms. Edlira Osmani in order to discuss potential collaboration opportunities between the two institutions.
The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) founded in 1948 at Imperial College, London, is an independent, non-profit, and non-political student exchange organization. It provides students in technical degrees (primarily Science, Engineering and the applied arts) with paid, course-related, training abroad and employers with highly skilled, highly motivated trainees, for long or short term projects. With over 80 countries involved and exchanging over 4000 traineeships each year worldwide, it is the largest organization of its kind in the world.
During the meeting Rector Altin and the team from Epoka, discussed on the main points of collaboration with the Association, such as the creation of internship opportunities for the students, both incoming and outgoing, creation of a network of companies willing to act as partners, creation of a student local committee affiliated to the center in Albania and located at the University, aiming at increasing the visibility of the association in the country as well as management of the activities.
Apart from the above mentioned collaboration opportunities Ms. Osmani introduced some of the forthcoming activities of the Association such as the Online Career Fair, the Central European Convention and the Balkan Venture Forum. These activities will be opened to students all over the world and will be particularly interesting and beneficial for Epoka Universities` students. They will serve as bridge for sharing experience and enriching their network as well as to introduce their business ideas and find potential investors.
At the end of the meeting, Rector Altin agreed to promote the participation of Epoka University as well as of its students to the different activities of IAESTE as well as to enhance the role of the University as a partner of the Association in Albania.
