In the framework of and funded by the European Commissions` Program “Erasmus+”, more precisely Key Action 1, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sokol Dervishi and Dr. Frida Pashako academic staff member at the Department of Architecture of Epoka University, participated in the Italo Balkan International Urban Design Workshop at the Polytechnic University of Bari (POLIBA), in Italy.
Mr. Dervishi and Ms. Pashako were involved as instructors in the workshop. In addition, Mr. Dervishi lectured on the topic of Eco-City Planning: exploration of concepts and methods and Ms. Pashako on the topic of adaptive re-use of industrial buildings.
The theme of the workshop was the re-use of sites within the city or its outskirts. Are all areas of "crisis" of the city, available today for the redefinition of its form, and the creation of new landscapes and public spaces, often missing in the contemporary city, the result of the large growth in the '90.
The main objective of the workshop was bringing together researchers from major schools of architecture in the Balkan region and the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Bari, aiming for the comparison of methodological approaches, theories and practices to address the problems of the city contemporary, its shape and its project. There were participants from different countries of the Balkan region such as Bosnia Herzogovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia.
