Project Coordination and Advisory Office organized the First Project Management Workshop

Project Coordination and Advisory Office at Epoka University in collaboration with Istanbul Solution Center/Turkey organized the first Project Management Workshop. The activity was composed of three sessions 4 hours each hold in three different days, on 17th and May 23-24, 2014. This workshop was addressed to all academic and administrative staff members who were interested in being involved in research projects. During this training, Mr. Baybars Orsek, gave presentations on ‘Project Management Framework and Steps’ and ‘Project Proposal Writing Guidelines and Principles’. Therefore, the workshop was focused more on delivering theory and practice based knowledge to the participants.

The purpose of this capacity building training was to empower Epoka University staff members to develop European Union projects. The content of the workshop was based more on project possibilities that are suitable and available for Albania and the region such as: (a) Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), which replaces a series of European Union programs and financial instruments for candidate or potential candidate countries and (b) Europe Aid Development and Cooperation, an initiative responsible for ensuring the quality of EU aid and spreading it all over the world.

In addition to theoretical background, some practical sessions were held in terms of how to find an appropriate call for proposal valid for Albania and the region, how to find suitable partners and how to write a good research proposal.

Moreover, broader information was given about HORIZON2020 program and its opportunities, a flagship initiative done for increasing Europe’s global competitiveness. For this one, an existing call for proposal was considered and the participants shared and discussed their ideas based on very fruitful group activities. As a result of this workshop, a few project applications are under evaluation by the projects office and it can be considered as one of the best outcomes.

Projects Coordination and Advisory Office in collaboration with academic staff members and the students will continue working on increasing and improving the university capacity in terms of project application and research.
