One of the most successful young politicians and entrepreneurs in Turkey, Mr. Baybars Örsek participated at the Open Forum with Epoka University students, organized by the Conflict Resolution Club, which focused on the Social Entrepreneurship and Leadership.
During the Open Forum, he presented to the students the emerging need that the world society and especially countries like Albania, with a potential for future development, have for social entrepreneurs. According to Mr. Örsek social entrepreneurs are those exceptional individuals who dream up and take responsibility for an innovative and untested idea for positive social change, and usher that idea from dream to reality.
Firstly, he asked the students to think of a problem they encounter more often in Albanian society, such as: transport system, corruption, poverty. Then he encouraged them to imagine and plan a practical solution, anything that would affect into changing the situation for the better.
During his discussion with students, Mr. Örsek analyzed aspects such as: planning, thinking of the organization, finding the right people to collaborate with, searching for funding from different sources and take up the courage to implement their ideas for the social enterprise.
Finally, Mr. Örsek emphasized the fact that the students must believe and follow their ideas. No one should be afraid of failing. No matter how many times you fail, the most important thing is to keep trying and moving on. Success will eventually come if you never give up.
After the Open Forum, Mr. Baybars Örsek had a round-table conversation with the board members of Conflict Resolution Club, discussing different ideas and future common projects to develop together.
Mr. Baybars Örsek currently holds the position as the Founder & CEO of Istanbul Solution Center, and General Coordinator of Politicsinthefield.com and Yazmakiyidir.com. However, he has always been an energetic and passionate activist, project initiator and coordinator in many non-governmental organizations, alongside his participation in politics. In 2010, Mr. Baybars Örsek attended a one-month program on ‘Preventing political conflicts’ at the University of Maryland, USA and in this respect, he pioneered in organizing a workshop on citizen diplomacy between Turkey and Armenia with the participation of Turkish and Armenian university students. Mr. Baybars Örsek attended two different political exchange programs covering Lebanon, Qatar and United Arab Emirates and shared ideas with the leading characters of these countries in politics, economy and social issues.
