Mehmet Akif College team is the winner of the First Balkan Football Championship for High Schools

Representatives of the Mehmet Akif College is the winners of the first edition of Balkan Football Championship for High Schools on 6x6 version. The representative team of Mehmet Akif was announced champion of this edition, after they won over representatives of “28 Nentori” High School from Shkodra with a 5-1 final result. Meanwhile on the third place of this championship are the representatives of “Gjergj Kastrioti” High School from Durres, who won over the representatives of “Harry Fultz” on the small final.

In the ceremony of individual awards and cups, Rector of Epoka University, Prof. Dr. Remzi Altın was present among other board members of Epoka University, “Turgut Ozal” Educational Institutions and representatives from Albanian Football Federation and finalist High Schools. In the awarding ceremony, Rector of Epoka Univeristy, Prof. Dr. Remzi Altın thanked the participants of this tournament and emphasized that this kind of activity will be organized every year, making it an annual tradition. “We are glad and honored that the initiative of Epoka University and “Turgut Ozal” Educational Institution has found wide support among Balkan’s regional High Schools. Epoka University will continue to support these kinds of initiatives in the future. Just before a month we have supported the National Culture and Youth Festival, an activity that was welcomed by the youth of the region. We believe that education, culture, sport and other social activities are a key factor in coexistence between nations and a boost to youth’s value promotions”, Prof. Altın said.

Except the awards for the winning teams, organizers of this championship have also given individual prizes. Armand Vucaj of “28 Nëntori” High School from Shkodra was declared the best goalkeeper; Enki Shehu of “Harry Fultz” from Tirana was declared the best defense player; Ardit Mesi from “28 Nentori” High School (Shkodra) was declared as the best midfielder; and Gledis Omeri from “Mehmet Akif” college (Tirana) was declared the best forward player. The best goal-scorer of this championship was Rei Ibrahimi from “Gjergj Kastrioti” (Durres) with 16 scored goals, whereas Armand Durbaku of “Mehmet Akif” college (Tirana) was declared the best player. In this Balkan’s Football Championship 24 High School teams were present from different cities of Kosova, Macedonia, Bosnia and Bulgaria, divided in 6 groups with four teams.
