Intellectual property seminar organised at Epoka University

On February 6, 2015 at 9:30 in the auditors of Epoka University, an awareness seminar was organized with the students related to matters of copyright and other related rights in the Republic of Albania. This activity is part of the awareness and information of the whole community and society as well as specific categories / groups of interest, that the AARO has  at the primary focus of its work.
This activity besides its informative and awareness nature on the issues of copyright and other related rights in Albania, aims on educating of the youth generation and cultivate in them the awareness on the importance of respecting and protecting these rights in the economic and socio-cultural development of the country.
Implementation of the law concerning the protection of intellectual property is a fundamental element for the development of fair competition in every aspect of social and economic life of the country.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 27 of the Constitution stipulates that "Everyone has the right to protect the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he/she is the author"The Ministry of Education and Sports plays an essential role in the creation and strengthening of civic awareness in matters of intellectual property rights. Public awareness and education on these issues are the main pillars of the National Strategy for the Implementation of IP Rights from 2010 to 2015.
In the seminar attended Albanian Author’s Right Office- Director, Mr. Evien Dako and lecturers of Intellectual Property at Epoka University. The guests interacted with students and illustrated cases with examples from court of law practice.Expectations from the workshop are educating and informing the younger generation on the importance of reducing piracy in the country. Albanian society comes from a truncated mentality on respecting the human mind, because creativity is considered public property. World experience has shown significant and realistic results in regards. his This initiative aims to achieve:
 Clearance on defining roles and responsibilities that have educational institutions together with the Ministry in the implementation of Intellectual Property Rights.
 Development of educational curricula at all levels of education, including in particular topics of intellectual property rights.
 Periodic awareness campaign based on creativity developed by pupils and students.
