On Wednesday 04.06.2014, Epoka University, Future Engineers Club and Department of Civil Engineering organized the Workshop entitled “Opportunities and Challenges for Future Engineers”. the aim of this activity was to increase the collaboration between civil engineering students and professionals and prepare the students for the opportunities and challenges that thay are going to face in the future. The first part of the workshop which started at 14:00 until 17:00 was moderated from Melpomeni Nelaj, President of Future Engineers Club and Student of Second Year, Department of Civil Engineeringat EPOKA University.
After the opening speech made by Future Engineers Club Advisor Mr. Erion Luga, Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, two members of the club board Fatlind DERVISHI and Almida KAZIU made their presentations, such as the Presentation of FEC activities for 2013-2104 Academic Year, and the Promotion of “Engineering Zone” Journal, Published by the Future Engineers Club. After that the workshop continued with the invited speakers and their presentations as follows: Eng. Saimir HUTA, CEO of Maccaferri Ballcans, “Maccaferri Company Profile”; MND. Eng. Gentian Rexha, Assist. Resident Engineer, Mott MacDonald “Challenges Between Design And Implementation From A Supervisor’s Experience”; M.A. Alba Gerdeci Head of International Relation Office, EPOKA University “Opportunities for Studying Abroad” and MND. Eng.Endri ZHULEKU Representative of Universal Construction Company, “The Necessity of Communication between Engineering Students And Professionals”. The first part was concluded with the closing speech made by the Rector of EPOKA University, Prof. Dr. Remzi ALTIN.
The second part of the workshop continued with the applications of a typical gabion production which was performed from the operators of the Maccaferri Company and scaffolding construction which was organized as a competition between several groups of students.
More than 50 students from different universities Civil Engineering departments participated in this activity. Also more than 10 civil engineer professionals and the academic staff of the Department of Civil Engineering at Epoka University enhanced and honoured this activity.
The Future Engineers club hopes to convert this activity into a traditional congress of promising engineers.
