During May 29-31, 2015, the 4th Start Up Weekend Tirana was organized. Its focus was Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The event took place at the Ministry of Culture in Tirana.
There were 11 competing teams that brought innovative ideas for encouraging the development of Tourism and Cultural heritage in Albania, one of which coming from Epoka University. The team composed of three students of Business Informatics Program presented a web application called tung.al that was awarded the first prize at Start Up Weekend 4.0. Tung.al is an application developed by Ermir Korbeci, Enxhi Hamzallari and Adela Kadiasi. It is basically an platform having two main features. The first feature called PAL-point and learn consists in installing some QR code in all monuments in Albania and by using tung.al application the tourists are able to scan the code and get all the information needed about that specific monument. The location of all QR codes will be available on a map that will provide a tour around Albania to all tourists.
The second Feature is LAR-Location Augmented Reality. The tourists are able to get information in real time about Albanian cultural monuments by just pointing the camera to the monuments and turning on the location setting on their smartphones. Tung.al is an idea which aims to boost tourism in Albania and increase the satisfaction level of the tourists that visit Albania each year.
Tung.al was awarded the AIDA prize of 300,000 ALL and the team members were offered one month incubation in the offices of Talent Garden Tirana.
