On December 4, 2015, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Üç, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Ergün, Head of the Banking and Finance Department and members of the academic staff of Banking and Finance Department of Epoka University had a meeting with the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Albania, Prof. Dr. Shkëlqim Cani at the premises of the Ministry of Finance. In the meeting participated also the representative of the Students Senate, third year bachelor student Tea Pikuli. The scope of the meeting was to present the Minister with the academic achievements of our students and professors with a detailed program of our academic program and research activity in the field of finance and banking.
The Minister expressed his highest consideration for the work and quality of education offered by Epoka University and the will of the Ministry of Finance to collaborate with Epoka University in several areas. The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the Head of the Banking and Finance Department informed the Minister about the present academic activity of Epoka University, the increasing number of students as a sign of trust and quality assurance and the successes of our student abroad and in their professional life.
During the meeting the participants proposed several possibilities for future cooperation in the field of common research activities, student’s internships, and guest lecturing of the staff of the Ministry in particular topics. The Minister welcomed these initiatives and promised the support of his staff and the facilities of the Ministry of Finance in reaching common goals in the field of research. A detailed written program proposal of possible areas of cooperation with the Ministry of Finance was delivered to the Minister.
Considering the academic experience of Prof. Dr. Shkelqim Cani a constructive discussion was conducted regarding the actual curricula and the quality of the teaching program offered by Epoka University and the ways how to enrich this program with recent financial trends, activities and innovations. Minister’s suggestions in this area were very much appreciated and valuable for further increase of the quality of the offered curricula.
The Banking and Finance Department is convinced that this meeting is the first step toward a fruitful future collaboration.
