Epoka University students participated at the event titled “Know your past, embrace your future” organized on March 10, 2014, by the EU Information Center (EUIC) with the presence of the Head of the EU Delegation to Albania Ambassador Ettore Sequi and Mr. Blendi Fevziu, a very well-known journalist and public opinion maker in Albania.
The latest documentary film “The Dictator” produced by Mr Fevziu was screened, presenting key moments of the Albanian communist regime and providing a point of reference for the event.
The meeting highlighted the important role that the young generation have on democratising and developing a country.
Ambassador Sequi opened the meeting, welcoming Mr Fevziu and the students to the EUIC. In his speech, he stated: “Your generation will – and already do – play a very important role in the political, economic and social development of your country. This is why the European Union not only supports youth action that increases the capacities and know-how of your generation, but also has a clear policy to support its intellectual formation”.
Mr Fevziu made a brief presentation about the documentary and talked to the students about the democratic revolution of Albanian students in the early 1990s, of which he was one of the main protagonists.
A large Q&A session followed among the students and guests, moderated by Ms Vjosa Berisha, EUIC Project Manager.
