Internships are career-related work experiences that involve students working in professional settings under the supervision of professionals. Students participating in internships gain valuable workplace skills, improve their marketability, and better prepare themselves for their full-time job searches.
Drit Sokoli, Civil Engineering student at Epoka University was awarded an internship at University of Texas at Austin, which is ranked among the top five universities in US.
The internships took place over a month period, including accommodation and provided the opportunity to work within a vibrant international newsroom.
Drit recognized the importance of this opportunity offered by Epoka University. “During this summer I was given the chance to have my Engineering Practice II at the University of Texas at Austin. I worked at the Center for Transportation Research, which is one of UT’s institutions and more precisely at the Texas Pavement Preservation Center”, he states.
“The University of Texas at Austin is ranked among the top five best universities in US. I should say that this internship was a great experience for me. Being involved in the work of such a great institution and filling the atmosphere of a big university, is really a great motivation for an undergraduate student”, he added.
“The slogan of the University, ‘what starts here changes the world’, best fits with the atmosphere that was felt while working there. I gained valuable experience in the professional aspect, but wouldn’t narrow it only in that side. From the work in the office to the laboratory research, from engineering aspect to human one, being there gives to anyone the chance to meet great people and experience a lot of things”, Drit concluded.
