On Wednesday, 24 January 2018, Epoka University's Department of Political Science and International Relations welcomed at Epoka Conference Hall, the distinguished lawyer and professor, Dr. Clirim Gjata, in an Open Forum titled "Challenges of Politics in Albania: Reform in Justice and EU Role". In this event, Dr. Gjata shared with the students and the participants his views on the constitutional development in Albania. He reflected on the key constitutional issues by referring to his rich experience as a member and adviser of leading electoral and judicial bodies in Albania. He also commented upon the most recent political issues in the country.
The guest gave his recommendations and opinions on how to solve some of the current challenges by focusing on the constitutional issues. The judiciary reforms of Albania were one of the main topics of discussion. The guest explained the role that international authorities has had in this process and the benefits the country would have if this reform is properly implemented. The development and amendments to the Albanian constitution since the country's independence, being Dr. Gjata's a main area of expertise, was also elaborated during the talk in order to comparatively understand the patterns of development of constitution in Albania and its importance in the future prospects of the country. The students were very active by directing questions to the guest and Dr. Gjata explained in detail every argument by being very clear and concise for the questions and comments made.
