Jonilda did her undergrad at Polytechnic University of Tirana and her master degree at Epoka University. While doing her master, Jonilda took an internship with a company that develops cloud-based softwares for hotel. At the same time, she co-founded Youth Center Borderless in Tirana where she worked on a few tourism related projects. In addition, she was teaching IT courses in Turgut Ozal High School. Her academic performance, leadership skills with Youth Center Borderless and teaching experiences gave her the opportunity to get a scholarship for pursuing a second master degree in hospitality management at University of South Florida, USA. While studying in Florida, she also taught for two years object-oriented programing courses in the department of Information Technology.
Jonilda is passionate about conducting research, teaching, sharing her knowledge, motivating students and serving the community. The passion for academia lead her toward pursuing a PhD degree in business at Virginia Tech, USA. Currently, she is a teaching assistant in the department of hospitality and tourism management conducting research in big data analytics and social media analytics in tourism.
When thinking about her journey, Jonilda always refers to Epoka University as a great bridge for facilitating and empowering her professional growth. She is thankful for her experience at Epoka University and loved her time there being a student and working as a research assistant for the department of computer engineering. As her father told her once: We always should remember where we come from to understand where we are going!
